The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated water, land and natural resource management and cross-sector legislation, policy, and objective setting for land and marine environments.

The Senior Crown Land Specialist will lead large, complex land disposition projects that increasingly have a contamination and remediation focus. They provide specialist services to the Natural Resource Sector in evaluating resource proposals, conducting applied research and leading or participating in complex projects. Sound knowledge of contaminated site principles is preferred including a broad understanding of site characterization, assessment and remediation principles that follow BC provincial environmental legislation.

Job requirements:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a natural resource management field and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a natural resource management field and 4 years of related experience; AND
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Experience:
  • Experience and/or training with contaminated sites and remediation.
  • Experience leading and managing complex projects.
  • Experience resolving conflict in a manner that satisfies partners with varying and opposing interests.
  • Experience in finding solutions to Crown Land disposition challenges.

    Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Regional authorizations experience.
  • Experience working with Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP) or a Professional Geoscientist/engineer and a familiarity with the contaminated sites investigation process and regulatory submission / application requirements for application to the Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals and ENV.
  • Experience with Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations, Detailed Site Investigations, Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment, Physical Remediation, Site Profiles, regulatory requirements, and legal instruments methods according to BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) legislation.
  • Experience in contract management.
