Job Description


Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective distribution processes to optimally support the region\'s production and delivery of products to customers. This is done according to the agreed upon standards and timeframes and coordinates and organizes expedition activities, by company owned transport means or by outsourcing, so that deliveries are taking place safely, at the expected compliant and quality, in time and at minimal logistics costs. The Logistics Supervisor is expected to conduct all matters in a manner consistent with Trouw Nutrition, a Nutreco company\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate Values of Innovation, Caring, Capable, and Collaboration.

Strategic Functions:

  • Develops, maintains, and documents, policies, processes and procedures for
  • Safe and legally compliant logistics operations, ensuring orders are done according to contract conditions
  • Ensure proper and optimum Route to Market
  • Analyses and reports on the performance, capacity, and volume of logistics activities for use in short- and long-term strategic planning.
  • Participates in tender processes with Purchasing department
Logistics / Transport Management:
  • Manages all transport and distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Ensures preparation of schedules of drivers and discuss with logistics / suppliers the amount of required logistics services
  • Ensures the required transport and shipping documents are available and completed
  • Ensure correct composition, sequence and freight implementation of transports and an efficient routing (triangulates)
People management:
  • Provides leadership to the area (i.e. setting individual objectives, reviewing performance and providing ongoing feedback on a(n) (in)formal basis) so that all reports are aware of what they are required to achieve and how they are performing against their objectives.
  • Develops and directs all warehouse personnel, logistics personnel and drivers to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility, motivates employees through sincere and concrete feedback and take appropriate action when needed, stimulate team cooperation and mobility and ensure that staff are deployable (quantitatively and qualitatively) and willing to and capable of realizing the set objectives.
Performance Management:
  • Maximizes delivery efficiency and pickup/delivery performance. The scope of movements includes all items moving between 3PL warehouses, outside warehouses, and customer/vendor locations.
  • Reviews and monitors daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ensure logistics operations are meeting expectation and to identify areas of variance requiring attention and correction; implement corrective action as appropriate.
Continuous improvement:
  • Continuously reviews distribution methods, techniques and procedures, service providers & costs in order to proactively initiate changes to supply chain channels & ensure products are warehoused and distributed effectively at least cost, while supporting efficient customer service.
  • Make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve warehousing and logistics
  • Monitors KPIs on performance of the department and of suppliers monitored versus contract to drive performance for Nutreco
  • Propose improvement and drive improvement projects to increase performance on safety, quality, compliance and cost or service.
Compliance:
  • Ensures the truck fleet and all processes and procedures are compliant with insurance, legal licensing requirements and with any national, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Ensures quality and food safety requirements are followed for all products during storage, transit, pickup, and delivery.
  • Ensures safe practices are followed at all times. Immediately address any and all unsafe work conditions
Quality / HSE Compliance:
  • Assures that all activities and operations are executed in line with HSE / Quality rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and promotes awareness.
  • Ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
Background:
  • Post secondary education in Business, logistics, supply chain management or equivalent experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and experience with an ERP system
  • Minimum of 3 years manager/supervisor experience in similar role
  • Good interpersonal and strong communication skills
