Job Summary

Mercator is an exploration services company that assists clients on exploration projects throughout North America. We are currently seeking for dedicated and knowledgeable Logging Geologist's to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geology, with expertise in drill core logging, sampling and QAQC protocols. This role involves work in remote locations on a rotational basis, where you will be providing core logging services for our clients following industry standard practices.

Duties

Provide drill core logging on an active mine site for a 4-6 month contract. Collect and record drill core recovery, structural measurements, alteration and mineralization observations and host rock descriptions Assist in the collection, sampling, and shipping of samples for assay as per Company procedures as required and directed. Entry data into the clients preferred core logging software foe inclusion in a company databases as per procedures. Ability to supervise and manage drill rigs and their crews to ensure that drill core is correctly drilled and recovered. Conduct geological surveys and field studies to collect data on soil, rock, and mineral samples. Utilize GIS software to analyze spatial data and create detailed maps. Maintain accurate records of fieldwork, samples collected, and laboratory results.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 2-5 year of relevant drill core logging and field exploration. Familiarity with industry standard drill core logging software. Proficiency in GIS software (QGIS) for data visualization and analysis. Excellent communication skills for presenting findings clearly and concisely both verbally and written. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in data collection and analysis tasks. Willing to work on rotation in remote locations for 2-3 week followed by a 2 week break. Need to complete drug and alcohol testing and security clearance. Must be a Canadian resident. Able to start work by July 15.

Pay: $375.00-$425.00 per day
