The Core Logging Geologist reports directly to the Senior Mine Geologist and will perform geological logging of drill core, geological data collection and interpretation to support Keno Hill mine development and grade control processes.

Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production.

Here's what you can expect in this role:

Respect, know, and promote regulation and policies with regards to health and safety.
Logging of Definition and Grade Control Diamond Drill Core. Logging to include the collection of drill core recovery and structural data, alteration/mineralization, and host rock descriptions.
Ensure the accurate entry of data into the geology database.
Adhere to established Drill Core sampling and QA'QC procedures.
Prepare samples for shipment to the lab as per Hecla's procedures.
Assist with daily tracking of underground drilling progress.
Prepare interpretive geological cross-sections and level plans integrating lithological, structural, historic mapping, and drilling data.
Support the planning and implementation of the annual underground drilling program.
Support ore grade control procedures as needed.
Continuously build and maintain strong working knowledge of relevant software packages including: Deswik, Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire and Microsoft Office Suite.
Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to underground mapping and chip sampling.

Qualifications
==================
Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from a recognized Canadian University or equivalent.
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Able to physically meet the requirement for the position including standing for extended periods of time and moving core boxes.
Minimum of 1 year diamond drill core logging experience.
Experience in the geology of narrow vein precious metals and underground mining environment is considered as asset.
Be a collaborative team player that works well in multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Registered as, or able to be registered as Geologist in Training.
Experience in the use of Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire and MS Office Suite is considered an asset but not a requirement.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Work Environment
====================
Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, as well as extreme temperatures ranging from cold to heat. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.
Work Location & Schedule
This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs.
To ensure efficient travel logistics, we are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
