ABOUT US:

Since 2009, Gowest has expanded its land holdings in the North Timmins Gold Project ("NTGP") area to cover a total of 109 square km in the Timmins gold camp, with much of the additional lands being located along the same geological structures - along the largely undeveloped Pipestone Fault, believed to be a splay off the prolific Porcupine-Destor Fault, which has produced the majority of the 145 million ounces of gold produced historically along the Abitibi-Greenstone belt - that host Gowest's Bradshaw Gold Deposit (formerly Frankfield East) as well as a number of other gold showings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Geologist (or their delegate), the Core Logging Geologist will perform geological logging and collection of data from the Company drill core to conform to Company procedures and best practise industry standards under the supervision of a Project Geologist.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drill logging to include the collection of drill core recovery, structural measurements, alteration and mineralization observations and host rock descriptions to conform with Company procedures and best practise industry standards. Assist in the collection, sampling, and shipping of samples for assay as per Company procedures as required and directed. Entry of and collection of data into Company databases as per procedures. Plotting of interpretive geological cross-sections, long sections and level plans of drill data and results as required. Selection of sample intervals and supervision of the representative sampling of the drill core selected to conform with the Company procedures and best practice industry standards under the supervision of a Project Geologist. Assist in the input of data and interpretation to enable geological modelling of the Corporation's exploration projects in GEMS or other related software as required. Ability to supervise and manage drill rigs and their crews to ensure that drill core is correctly drilled and recovered. Assist in the production of reports on the interpretation of the geology and mineralization as logged and be able to comment and provide recommendations on the viability of drill targets. Ability to operate data logging software, as well as other exploration related software to ensure data is collected to best industry standards in maintaining the integrity and validity of data under the supervision of a Project Geologist. The Corporation currently uses Leapfrog, MX Deposit, A-Mine and Target software. Assist in the generation of drill programs to test geological models and warranted targets. Progress reporting on a weekly basis. Ability to work with other technical members of the exploration team to achieve the Company objectives. Provide other geological services for the Corporation's exploration program as may be required. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Degree in Geology; registered or with the ability to register with the Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (or equivalent). 3 years of Exploration/Mining experience in narrow vein gold. Knowledge of narrow vein gold systems in Archean terranes. Knowledge with GeoticLog Leapfrog MapInfo, Autocad, or Deswick would be an asset. Exposure to drilling, core logging, and underground settings. Basic First Aid would be an asset. Legally entitled to work in Canada. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and time management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Must possess a valid Class G Ontario Driver's License. Must be willing to relocate to Timmins.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The role is located at the Frankfield Property, which is in the southwest part of Tully Township, approximately 32 km north-northeast of the City of Timmins, Ontario The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 5 days on and 2 days off (8-hour days). Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours, and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
