Location Chef - Italian Restaurant (Full-Time) IL Fornello Restaurants | - Greater Toronto Area



IL Fornello Restaurants is a well-established, full-service Italian restaurant group with a casual-fine dining focus. Founded in 1986, we proudly operate 6 locations across the Greater Toronto Area. We are currently seeking a hands-on Location Chef to lead the kitchen at our Danforth location and support other locations with special menus as required.

About the Role



This is a working chef position. The Location Chef is expected to be active on the line, lead by example, and ensure consistent execution of our menus across all services. The ideal candidate has a strong Italian cooking background, values scratch cooking, and understands the importance of consistency in a multi-unit restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities



Lead all back-of-house operations while actively working on the line as needed

Ensure consistent execution of scratch-made Italian dishes according to company recipes and presentation standards

Train and develop kitchen staff on core menu recipes, cooking techniques, and plating specifications

Enforce all company policies, procedures, and culinary standards with the kitchen team

Maintain all cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with company and local health regulations

Manage food costs and back-of-house labour to meet budget targets

Hire, train, schedule, and mentor kitchen staff

Order all kitchen products and manage inventory

Plan and execute catering events

Develop, train, and execute special menus every four weeks

Support other locations with menu development and execution as required

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum 3 years' experience as a Line Cook with a strong Italian cuisine background

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Kitchen Manager or Chef

Proven hands-on, working chef experience required

Multi-unit restaurant experience considered a strong asset

Post-secondary culinary education or equivalent experience

Valid driver's licence

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Passion for scratch cooking, consistency, and team development

Schedule & Compensation



Full-time: 44 hours per week

Evenings, weekends, and holidays required

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year (based on experience)
