What our expectations are

Reporting to the General Manager, this position supports the safe delivery of quality engines, on time to our customers, by delivering the required results in all areas of production and related, in direct support areas. This position oversees the Operation and Supervises 4 People (supervisors) and drives results to our business commitments, continuous improvement, and adherence to all corporate programs.

This MLM will work a 8 hours plus OT as required, supporting a seven-day/wk operation. The MLM should be aware there are certain health and safety risks associated to their position that are not limited to; noise, chemicals and air exposure, other specific hazards they should see their Supervisor.

Function Description

  • Drive and improve the safety culture in the plant.
  • Respond to EH&S issues, conduct investigations in timely manner, bring additional resources as necessary to ensure people are safe and we protect the environment.
  • Adhere to all legal and corporate EH&S standards and policies. Protect the worker and ensure accountability.
  • Support, enhance, and provide resources for the various training programs.
  • Ensure staff understands our daily expectations and work routines. Manages by his/her presence on the shop floor.
  • Drive and nurture a quality culture in our people. Sustain and improvements the quality programs to exceed customer's expectations and meet company goals.
  • Resolves day to day questions, problems and support opportinities on the shop floor. Provide resources and mentor staff to meet daily and critical daily engine commitments.
  • Drive accountability on the production floor.
  • Serve as a resource on production and parts issues, and refers only the more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Ensure all required reports and statistics are up to date with accurate, relative, and supportive information.
  • If necessary, drive disciplinary actions; ensure all documentation is accurate, up to date and factual.
  • When required provide resources and participates in RCCA activities.
  • Consult on key projects that support the organizations annual roadmap. Achieve your roadmap objectives in consultation with the General Manager.
  • Adapts new procedures, techniques, tool and training to meet the more complex requirements of this position.
  • Undertake other duties as required to support the business.
What your day to day will look like:
  • Manage and Plan the Engine Maintenance Management Program
  • Define both on-wing and off-wing programs
  • Establish Workscope specifications for the engine and build maintenance levels
  • Drive EMMP alignment with Publication organization
  • Define and create predefined workscopes for Shop Level activities
  • Contribute to maintainability and repairability activities to improve serviceable limits (Module, Sub-assembly, parts)
  • Define component Repair vs Replace methodology
  • Identify gaps in MRO readiness ; Propose short/medium/long term solution
  • Coordinate activities with OEM regarding publications strategy, validation requirements, and next level customer / maintainer experience
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership
  • Maintains effective communications with key stakeholders, multidisciplinary and global team members.
  • Maintains frequent contact with customers which requires a high degree of tact and courtesy.

Education Requirements:

Post-secondary diploma in mechanical engineering or diploma in aeronautical engineering. Alternatively it may be in any field of study with Engineering and/or Business related diploma, and/or candidates may be qualified through demonstrating prior work experience.

Health Hazards:
  • A physical, chemical, biological, or psychological hazard which may cause acute or chronic health effects in exposed employees (noise, dust, heat, ergonomics)

Safety Hazards:
  • A substance, process, action or condition which may endanger the immediate safety of employees ( chemical burns, pinch points, slip and falls)
Risks:
  • Skin absorption, eye contact, ingestion and inhalation of chemicals.
  • Potential hearing loss/damage due to noise exposure (Test Cell, machine shop).
  • Hand and foot injuries due to pinch points, dropped tools or parts, sharp tools or parts.
  • Contact with PIV's - forklift, Raymond
  • Slips, trips and falls - parking lot/walking surfaces
  • Electrical/LOTO hazards
  • Burns from part heaters or hot parts.
  • Ergonomic injuries due to repetitive actions, use of power or hand tools, manual material handling and desk work.
  • Stressors related to managing employees
