Job Description

The Line Cook at Ile Des Chenes Hotel plays a crucial role in the heart of our kitchen operations, responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with our recipes and standards. This position requires a passion for food, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Line Cook will work closely with the team to ensure consistency, efficiency, and exceptional guest dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation and Production:

Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation specifications. Execute various cooking methods (grill, flat top and deep fryers primarily) Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and visual appeal. Anticipate and prepare for peak service times

Kitchen Operations & Efficiency:

Set up and stock workstations with all necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment. Work efficiently and collaboratively with other kitchen staff as well as independently to ensure timely and smooth service. Manage multiple orders simultaneously, maintaining speed and accuracy. Rotate stock and ensure proper storage of all food items to minimize waste and maintain freshness.

Quality Control & Food Safety:

Monitor food quality throughout the preparation and cooking process, ensuring consistency and adherence to hotel standards. Strictly adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP, local health codes). Maintain a clean and organized workstation, cooking equipment, and kitchen area throughout the shift. Properly handle and store food items to prevent cross-contamination.

Teamwork & Communication:

Communicate effectively with the other staff regarding food preparation, inventory levels, and any operational issues. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed. Participate in a positive and productive team environment.

Equipment Maintenance:

Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management immediately.

Qualifications:



Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Line Cook in a restaurant is an asset.

Skills:

Proven cooking skills and knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation principles. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately. Basic knife skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment. Manual dexterity and coordination.

Availability:

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: From $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
