Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, responsible, flexible, and reliable Line / Prep Cook to join our team. This role is central to our operations, with primary responsibilities including smashing burger patties on the flattop grill, prepping ingredients, maintaining food quality, and leading the team during shifts, from time to time. It's a physically demanding role that requires arm strength, stamina, and the ability to thrive in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cooking & Food Preparation
Smash and cook burger patties to perfection on the flattop grill.
Operate cooking stations (grill, fry, assembly) and ensure orders are executed quickly and consistently.
Handle food prep duties (cutting, portioning, seasoning, organizing).
Maintain speed, accuracy, and quality during high-volume service.
Food Quality & Safety
Uphold The Mason Jar's food safety standards and sanitation protocols.
Ensure all dishes meet quality standards before being served.
Keep kitchen areas clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Team Support & Efficiency
Work closely with other team members to keep the line running smoothly.
Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Maintain clear communication during busy shifts to keep service efficient.
Setup, restocking, and cleanup before and after shifts.
Leadership, Opening & Closing
Act as the shift lead, from time to time, providing direction and support to crew members.
Open the food truck at the start of service, including setup of equipment, prep stations, and inventory.
Close the truck at the end of the day, including breakdown, cleaning, restocking, and securing equipment.
Monitor staff performance and ensure smooth team operations during shifts.
Communicate with management about supply needs, equipment issues, or operational concerns.
Qualifications:
Previous cooking experience preferred, especially in high-volume or fast-paced kitchens.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in hot environments.
Physical stamina and arm strength required for smashing burgers.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask under pressure.
Team player with a positive, hardworking attitude.
Availability for evening & weekend work.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Ability to work for 10+hours a day, from time to time, while maintaining a positive attitude, speed, accuracy, and quality during high-volume service.
