Location: Detour Cafe Dundas street - 41 King St W, Dundas ON , L9H 1T5

Wage: $17.60 to $ 18.50 (Including Tips)

Hours: 15-25 hours per week

Detour Cafe is a welcoming and vibrant space where quality coffee, fresh food, and community come together. We are looking for a dedicated and reliable two Part-Time Prep cook to join our team and help keep our cafe running smoothly.

Our journey began back in 2009 in a back alleyway in Dundas, Ontario, filled with good vibes and with the goal of making coffee fun. As we expanded over the last 15 years, we have continued to operate with a friendly and approachable people first mentality, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, hard work and fun.

Position Overview

As a Prep Cook / Line Cook, you'll be responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and plating of menu items. You'll help maintain kitchen efficiency, uphold food quality standards, and ensure a clean and safe work environment

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and cafe standards. Assist with food prep (chopping, measuring, portioning, etc.) Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage, and prep areas. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times. Support teammates during busy service periods to ensure smooth kitchen flow. Assist with inventory checks, stock rotation, and minimizing food waste.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience as a prep cook, line cook, or similar role preferred. Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills. Reliable, punctual, anddetail-oriented. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
