The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food to meet the restaurant's standards of quality, taste, and presentation. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
Prepare and cook food to order, ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for quality, presentation, and taste.
Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency across all dishes.
Ensure that all dishes are plated according to restaurant standards and are presented attractively to guests in a timely manner.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Be flexible and willing to perform additional tasks as needed (e.g., food prep, dishwashing, cleaning, etc.) to support team goals.
Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and expeditor to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
Cleanliness, Safety & Organization:
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is properly cooked and safe for consumption.
Follow food safety standards including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, grills, ovens, fryers, and slicers in accordance with safety protocols.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, cooking equipment, and utensils in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Ensure prep areas and cooking stations are properly stocked and ready for the next shift.
Qualifications & Skills
:
Previous experience as a line cook or in a fast-paced kitchen environment is required.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
Ability to follow recipes and directions precisely while working efficiently under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Certifications Required:
Safe Food Handler's Certification Seen as an Asset
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift.
Frequent walking, bending, and reaching to access ingredients, equipment, and workstations.
Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, including food supplies and equipment.
Working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to ovens, stoves, and other high-temperature equipment.
Manual dexterity for chopping, cutting, plating, and other food preparation tasks.
Stamina to handle long shifts, particularly during busy service periods or events.
