Lighthouse Tour Guide and Host
to lead visitors on unforgettable tours at one of Nova Scotia's iconic lighthouses, Cape Forchu Lighthouse. As a key ambassador of the site, you'll share its history, maritime lore, and the important role lighthouses have played in coastal communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engaging, informative, and interactive tours of the lighthouse and surrounding grounds.
Share stories about the lighthouse's history, local maritime culture, and its significance to Nova Scotia.
Greet visitors with a warm welcome and provide exceptional customer service.
Ensure the safety and well-being of guests during tours.
Assist with daily operations, including ticket sales, gift shop duties, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
Organize and participate in special events or educational programs hosted at the lighthouse.
Qualifications:
A passion for history, storytelling, and Nova Scotia's maritime heritage.
Comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging with diverse audiences.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of local geography and culture is a plus.
Ability to handle light physical activity, such as climbing stairs or walking on uneven terrain.
Additional Details:
Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays - 15 to 25 hours per week.
Training on Cape Forchu's Lighthouse history and tour content will be provided.
