Job Title: Librarian, Creative Arts and Student Outreach

: The Langara Library is seeking a librarian for a term position, starting as soon as possible, concluding at the end of March 2023. Our new team member will serve as the Subject Librarian for five programs (Art History, Design Formation, Fine Arts, Professional Photography, Web and Mobile App Design). Furthermore, the position will plan and coordinate the Library's community events and social media activities as a member of the library's communications team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Our new team member will:

  • Provide cross-disciplinary reference services, online and in person
  • Plan and deliver information literacy instruction for their subject areas
  • Assist with collections management activities for their subject areas as needed
  • Plan and coordinate the Library's community events and social media activities as a member of the library's communications team
Qualifications Required:

Education
  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in library or information science
  • Two years related work experience as a professional librarian (academic libraries preferred) an asset
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into easily understood terms
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging library instruction
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven event planning and social media content creation skills
  • Academic credentials or work experience in the creative arts an asset
Salary Range: Salary placement is on Langara instructors' salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
