Arts and Craft Leader The Arts and Craft Leader works within our Early Years Camp. As a member of the Early Years multidisciplinary team, the Leader will plan and implement a high quality-learning environment for children from birth to 6 years old. Arts and Craft Leaders will work directly with a full time staff who will provide them with mentorship and training throughout the summer. Leaders will be required to attend a week of training before beginning their employment. This position requires the staff to take on a leadership role in implementing the program. Program Responsibilities:
Contract length: 2 months
Part-time hours: 35 per week Salary: From $15.50 per hour Benefits:
- Collaborate with team members to implement program activities on a daily basis
- Ensure program area is set up appropriately to meet the development stages and needs of the campers
- Facilitate and implementation of specialty programs (Science-STEM, Dance, Music, Creative Arts, Sports etc.)
- Engage children in developing interest based activities
- Interact in a positive manner with children, staff, parents/caregivers and volunteers
- Assist with daily maintenance of program space; proper storage of equipment and program materials
- Actively participate in de-briefing sessions at the completion of each day and partake in preparation for the following day
- Communicate with parents daily in relation to their child\xe2\x80\x99s day and the activities they participated in
- Other duties as assigned
- Individuals who are enthusiastic and energetic
- Genuine interest in working with children
- Demonstrate an understanding of leadership skills and understanding of programming skills
- Experience working or volunteering in programs with children (particularly with children 6 years and younger) in a summer camp setting or early years environment (EarlyON centres, childcare, etc)
- Demonstrate time management skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of anti-bias philosophy
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education related to young children an asset
- Second language an asset
- First Aid Certification and HIGH FIVE Certification (Principles of Healthy Child Development)
- Development of program planning skills
- Opportunities to practice positive role modeling and supervision of volunteers/junior leaders, with support from full time staff
- Develop \xe2\x80\x9csoft skills\xe2\x80\x9d (punctuality, appropriate dress, communication skills etc)
- Opportunity to develop skills required when working in a team environment
- Opportunity to develop customer service skills (greeting parents)
- Overall goal of increasing the student\xe2\x80\x99s employability skills for the future
Contract length: 2 months
