The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a junior Learning and Development Specialist to join our team of progressive L&D professionals within an employee owned company that prioritizes the development of our people and looks beyond training events to the analytics and insights that evidence positive business impact.
In collaboration with and reporting to the Executive Director, People and the Manager, Learning and Development, the Learning and Development Specialist will help us be at the leading edge of people development.

This position is available at any Dillon office and/or remote. Responsibilities:
What your day will look like


Learning and Development Specialist

As a junior member of our team, you will continuously develop and evolve your proficiency to:


  • Create learning materials including eLearning content, storyboards, user guides, tutorials, instructor guides, case studies, assessments, videos and podcasts
  • Develop learning strategies and initiatives using Universal Design Learning (UDL) and adult education theories and models in support of inclusive learning experiences for diverse audiences
  • Participate in the tracking and analysis of learning and development metrics related to learning initiative completion and business impact
  • Contribute to the execution of our Early Career Development program
  • Contribute to the creation of a constructive working culture where development of our people is as important as and critical to profit generation
  • Provide instructional design guidance to internal stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of best practices and industry trends related to people development, leadership, workplace learning and adult learning
  • Develop and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with internal stakeholders, including learners, subject matter experts and operational team management

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribute to Dillon\xe2\x80\x99s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees, and periodic participation and presentations at industry and professional conferences
Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Adult Education or Instructional Design
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in a workplace learning and development role
Experience: What you bring to this role
  • Intermediate knowledge of software including e-learning authoring tools e.g. Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate and Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult education including instructional design and evaluation
  • A desire to contribute to and build a constructive working culture
  • A curiosity that drives creative and innovative solutions
  • A commitment to continuous personal development
  • Evolving project management skills with a focus on managing multiple priorities and delivering on-time results
  • Effective planning, time management, prioritizing and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
