As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager and enthusiastic experienced Lead Product Engineer, Diesel Markets to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in the manufacturing industry who can provide superb work experience.

Purpose of Position:

This role is primarily responsible for overseeing all phases of product design & development from conception through launch. The Lead is also responsible for product management and technological leadership in traditional diesel markets, notably construction and agriculture.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Working closely with the Sales and Program Management groups, leading technical responsibilities of product design & development creating a product leadership position in the Diesel markets
  • Managing staff of Product Engineers & Development Engineers
  • Training and developing staff in accordance with Active Exhaust policies, procedures, and engineering guidelines.
  • Supervising and mentoring staff toward performance targets, departmental goals and company values
  • Responsible for product & process development on Diesel programs:
  • Designing of exhaust systems in Creo Parametric with Windchill PDM and ANSYS simulation
  • Technical areas focus on acoustic, thermal, fluid, emission, and structural requirements
  • Product developments will support global markets, covering requirements in North America, China, India, and Europe or other points of expansion
  • Projects will be initiated internally and externally (customer directed).
  • Understanding current & future market regulations
  • Creating product & process solutions that meet customer requirements & specifications
  • Deliverables include models, prints, design validation records, process proposals
  • Driving technical discussions with customers
  • Delegation of work within the team which may include responsibility for individual projects
  • Adherence to timelines with respect to the NPI process
  • Conducting design reviews and ensuring assigned responsibilities are completed
  • Supporting vision & development of product roadmaps and executing timelines
  • Driving design for cost metrics and supporting application VA/VE initiatives with customers
  • Minimizing design defects and rolling out lessons learned throughout their team
  • Development of design rules
  • Monitoring Key Performance Indicators for employees and projects
  • Supporting cross-functional teams in the development of continuous improvement activities of existing products within the organization
  • Communication & coordination with all other departments & vendors as required by Company processes
  • Ensuring fair treatment of employees consistent with the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, the Active Collective Agreement & Active employee relations policies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
What you bring along:
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer preferable
  • \xe2\x89\xa55 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Management preferable
  • \xe2\x89\xa5 10 years experience in engineering design
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through and the ability to work independently
