JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for a business savvy technical leader, someone who can collaborate with our business leaders and partners, act as a trusted advisor, and lead technical transformations and implementations for our dynamic business, which covers our extended value chain from Agriculture through manufacturing, logistics and commercial, including retail / FMCG. You will bring your breadth of architecture and technology experience (enterprise wide) to direct the concepts, technology vision, and strategic roadmaps, and develop the architecture practice to drive overall standards and shape our IT Products to enable business technology strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with EA peers (e.g., enterprise, business, data, solutions and security architects) to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as change requirements in other enterprise architecture viewpoints (such as business, data and solution) to derive the future state technology architecture. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
  • Works closely to the Technology and Solution teams to support the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement. In addition, leads the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture.
  • Coaches, mentors and collaborates with technical subject matter experts and EA peers to develop technology architecture that enables and drives new business capabilities and operating models.
  • Contributes to high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the future and current state, typically in sync with the IT budgeting or other capital planning processes.
  • Document and maintain the business domain architecture(s) including actionable conceptual and logical architectural designs using established enterprise and application design patterns.
  • Build positive relationships within a matrix environment to deliver key objectives by engaging peers within the business and technical teams accountable for updating reference architectures and standards, and ensuring adherence to industry and McCain technology standards and guidelines.
  • Understands technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Guides technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive targeted business outcomes.
  • Helps the enterprise architect define metrics to measure and demonstrate enterprise technology value.
  • Assists with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance of projects and products.
  • Perform complex architectural assessments supporting business case development, application architecture development, technology decisions, and process optimization activities.
  • Deliver appropriate program oversight to the solution architects assigned to projects and programs under your portfolio and confirm solutions are successfully implemented and achieve the desired business outcomes.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Have a track record of remaining unbiased toward specific technologies or vendors.
  • Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, engaging with multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders.
  • Organizationally savvy, with a good understanding of the enterprise\'s political climate and how to navigate, influence and persuade political waters.
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps)
  • Application Portfolio Management (APM): Hands on experience implementing APM within an EA tool such as Ardoq, LeanIX, Abacus or Orbus.
  • Cloud: PaaS, IaaS, cloud architecture
  • Knowledge of the SAP emerging technologies such as S4/HANA would be an asset
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
  • Ten or more years of experience designing and leading creative architecture solutions
  • Experience in multiple architecture domains (business, information, technology, application, infrastructure, security) and are proficient in generating technical roadmaps and architectures to lead architecture concepts
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture tools, processes and procedures
  • A proven ability to interpret and communicate IT related information and concepts into business language for senior level stakeholders
  • Good social and communication skills to openly identify architectural consequences to relevant parties across the organization
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Alignment with our values of safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing
  • Architecture experience in Agriculture and food manufacturing.
  • A Master\'s level degree
  • A certification in enterprise architecture such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
  • A professional certification as an architect with an industry-recognized organization

OTHER INFORMATION
  • You will work out of our Global Technology Centre in Toronto, ON
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Travel: as required
  • Job is primarily performed in a standard office environment
