Job Description

We are Tighe, Greenley Associates, a law firm based in downtown Toronto. Our primary areas of practice are estate law and civil litigation, but we also advise on environmental and employment matters. Our lawyers possess extensive experience providing legal advice to both Canadian and international clients.

Duties



As a Law Clerk / Legal Assistant, you would be working directly with our lawyers and accountant to provide legal administrative support for a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Day-to-day bookkeeping on PC Law and Excel; Preparing invoices and billing clients; Attending to the payment of accounts; Managing calendars, including scheduling calls and meetings, coordinating schedules, making travel arrangements, and updating the calendar as needed; Handling mail, including scanning and filing all mail items, mailing items, and arranging couriers; Scanning files and file maintenance; Assisting with the preparation of letters, documents, affidavits of documents, pleadings, motion records and mediation briefs; Answering the telephone and taking messages; Monitoring and re-stocking supply inventory; Preparing and depositing cheques; and Establishing, implementing and improving administrative procedures.

The Successful Applicant



The successful applicant is organized, possesses strong communication skills, has a working knowledge of PC Law and Microsoft Office applications, works well in a team environment, and has the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

The successful applicant meets the following requirements:

At a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a law clerk, legal assistant, or a similar position; At a minimum, a post-secondary degree in a relevant field; A demonstrated familiarity with basic accounting and professional writing; and The ability to maintain high standards for organization and accuracy, even under deadlines.

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
