Position Summary In collaboration with the Programs team, the Knowledge Mobilization Assistant will support the design, creation, and dissemination of Vanier Institute knowledge products using various platforms such as website, digital print, infographics, and video. These initiatives will support key program priorities of the Vanier Institute of the Family. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Knowledge Mobilization Specialist in the production of blog posts, newsletters, fact sheets, plain language summaries, presentations, infographics, and/or video stories
  • Provide general assistance for grant applications
  • Perform in-house editing as required
  • Evaluate knowledge products and outcomes
  • Provide support to the Executive Director for presentations
  • Monitor new and emerging tools for sharing/presenting knowledge such as interactive timelines, data visualization/presentation tools, and videos
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to other organizational requirements as needed
Candidate Qualities
  • An undergraduate or master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a social science discipline related to family studies, public policy, political science, or communications with one year of related work experience, or a combination of training and work/life experience that provides an equivalent base
  • Ability to interpret and identify key results from research evidence and succinctly summarize findings in plain language
  • Ability to communicate effectively through a range of mediums
  • An excellent understanding of knowledge mobilization approaches, such as product development, engagement activities, knowledge dissemination strategies, and networking
  • Collaborative and proactive approach, and experience fostering effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, evolving processes, and stakeholder feedback
Assets
  • Certificate or formal training in knowledge mobilization
  • French language ability
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organization
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Microsoft Office, and Teams
  • Knowledge of relevant social services, government departments, non-profit organizations, and researchers with an interest in families
Conditions and Benefits The Knowledge Mobilization Specialist is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) for eight months, with a possibility of extension, and will be based out of the Ottawa headquarters of the Vanier Institute of the Family, at 94 Centrepointe Drive. In negotiation with the Director of Corporate Services, the incumbent may have the opportunity to work from home up to 40% of the time. The starting salary for this position has been set at $60,000. If the position is extended,the successful candidate will be eligible for an annual cost of living adjustment on July 1 of each year following the first year of service. Vacation entitlement starts at 4 weeks per year, prorated, with additional leave possible after 8 years of service.
