The Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The University of Guelph invites applications for an NSERC CRC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Advanced Epidemiology and Disease Modeling in the Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College. This position is part of a cluster hire in One Health, which includes two other Tier 2 Chairs. Tier 2 CRCs, tenable for five years and renewable once, are for emerging researchers acknowledged by their peers as world-class. A CRC Tier II Chair attracts funding of $600,000 over five years (renewable once), with most of this funding allocated to support the Chair and the Chair\xe2\x80\x99s program of research. For more details, visit the CRC program. Nominees for Tier 2 Chair positions should, at a minimum, be assistant or associate professors, or possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed to these levels. Eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair requires that applicants are emerging scholars. Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their first highest degree (PhD, DVM, or DVSc), where career breaks exist, such as parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, or other exceptional circumstances, including research interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, may have their eligibility assessed through the program\xe2\x80\x99s Tier 2 justification process. Eligible leaves and research interruptions are generally credited at twice the amount of time taken. Applicants will have a doctoral level degree (PhD, DVSc or equivalent) in Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field with training and research experience in epidemiology and disease modeling. Some spatial modeling experience is required. The successful candidate will be an emerging One Health leader and play a key role in the OVC\xe2\x80\x99s prevention and prediction of disease and/or antimicrobial resistance efforts through use of advanced epidemiological methods and transmission modeling techniques, including spatial modeling methods. The Chair will propel novel and innovative research programs through leading multi-million dollar competitive grants and advising and mentoring graduate students in their research programs. In addition, the chair will contribute to the education of DVM, One Health, MPH, and other graduate students through introducing them to the benefits of spatial transmission modeling methods, increasing their understanding of how veterinary medicine and public health can be used to promote both animal and human health.
