Job Description

Hudson College is a private school in midtown Toronto for students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our students are encouraged to strive for excellence and reach their full potential.

We are seeking a Senior Kindergarten Teacher for a one-year maternity leave contract starting in November 2025, with the possibility of an extension.



The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and engaging teacher with a strong understanding of kindergarten education practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with both students and colleagues. The teacher will be an integral primary team member, contributing to the Hudson community through academic and extracurricular activities. Candidates should have experience working in a Reggio Emilia-inspired classroom.

Responsibilities:



- Carry out the professional duties of a kindergarten teacher in accordance with the school's policies and under the direction of the Principal of the Lower School.

- Assist in implementing long-range and unit plans that align with or exceed Ontario's kindergarten curriculum, using a Reggio Emilia-inspired pedagogy that includes documentation of student progress and learning experiences.

- Assess students accurately and effectively.

- Write precise and detailed report cards.

- Communicate professionally with members of the Hudson community, including staff, students, and parents.

- Utilize Seesaw, a digital portfolio tool that allows teachers to document student learning for parents.

- Implement effective classroom management practices to establish a positive and engaging teaching and learning environment, serving as a mentor to all students by building positive relationships.

- Participate in co-curricular activities each term.

- Attend meetings, take responsibility for professional development opportunities, and engage in open house initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:



- Proven OCT certification in Primary/Junior levels and experience and/or qualifications in Reggio Emilia teaching practices.

- Minimum of two years of teaching experience.

- Demonstrated ability to teach mathematics and literacy to kindergarten students.

- Competence in using and teaching educational technology, particularly the G Suite of products (e.g., Google Docs, Chrome).

- Proficiency in using Seesaw or similar platforms to document student learning.

- Excellent relationship-building skills and effective relational teaching capabilities.

- Strong commitment to educational excellence and mentoring primary-aged students.

- Exceptional classroom management skills.

- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

- Ability to contribute to extracurricular programs.

- Proven ability to work independently.

- Willingness to accept constructive feedback.

- A strong enthusiasm for engaging with the school's positive and progressive culture.

- A police reference with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
