Position
Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated
Kindergarten
Teacher
to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in early childhood education, a deep commitment to student well-being and learning, and the ability to integrate
land-based
and
culturally
relevant
teaching
into daily practice.
Key
Responsibilities
Create and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging, and inclusive lesson plans that meet Alberta Education curriculum outcomes.
Foster early literacy and numeracy skills through play-based, inquiry-driven, and hands-on learning experiences.
Integrate
Stoney
Nakoda
language,
culture,
and
traditions
into classroom activities.
Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, parents, and community members to support cultural learning.
Incorporate
outdoor
and
land-based
learning
opportunities aligned with curriculum objectives.
Assess student learning using formative and summative tools, including provincial and SEA-approved assessments.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff to promote a supportive learning environment.
Participate in professional growth and school-wide initiatives as outlined in the SEA education plan.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree and valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
Specialized training or experience in
early
childhood
education
is preferred.
Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn
Stoney
Nakoda
language
and
culture
.
Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, student-centered approach.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse and committed educational team.
Experience integrating
inclusive
education
strategies
and differentiated instruction.
