The Opportunity:



The Junior Water Resources Designer will support the planning, design, and analysis of water resource projects, including stormwater management, flood mitigation, and watershed modeling,

with an emphasis on land development and green infrastructure design

. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a passion for environmental sustainability. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for water-related challenges.

What you can expect to do here:



Design Support:

Assist in the design of water resource infrastructure, including stormwater systems, erosion control measures, and drainage solutions.

Hydrologic & Hydraulic Analysis:

Support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, floodplain mapping, and watershed studies.

Data Collection & Analysis:

Gather and analyze environmental and hydrological data to support project development.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure designs and reports comply with local, provincial, and federal water resource regulations.

Technical Documentation:

Prepare engineering drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.

Technical Writing Skills: Be able to convey complex information using concise language, organized content, proper formatting, visual aids/(figures, graphs etc.) in various formats while ensuring accurate communication of engineering concepts.

Field Work:

Conduct site visits and inspections to support project assessments and implementation.

Collaboration:

Work closely with intermediate and senior engineers , planners, and environmental specialists to develop integrated solutions.

What you'll bring to WSP:



Education:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

0-3 years of experience in water resources engineering or related disciplines.

Certifications:

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) [AM1] designation or eligibility for P.Eng. licensure is preferred.

Skills:

Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, Visual Otthymo), strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication and writing skills.
