Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generationsBy joining our team, you would work as an integrated member of a multi-disciplinary team of technical experts that provide water resources solutions for clients in the government, mining, industrial, and oil and gas sectors throughout northern Canada and BC. You would have the opportunity to apply surface water analyses and principles of natural systems with current engineering approaches on several stormwater management, flood mapping, flood mitigation, river restoration design, and fish habitat design projects across Canada, with a focus on Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and northern British Columbia.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs the successful candidate, you will be involved in a variety of projects related to water resources engineering in a dynamic design team setting. You will report directly to the Team Lead for the Whitehorse Water Resources team. Your responsibilities will include:Assist with watershed characterization studies, flood plain mapping, environmental impact assessments, coastal and river engineering, and channel design projectsConduct water-related field surveys including hydrometric measurements, surface and groundwater sampling, and topographic/bathymetric surveys using a variety of instrumentsConduct data management and analysis tasks related to collected field dataAssist with hydrologic modelling and frequency analyses using multiple software programsAssist with 1D and 2D hydraulic modellingAssist with development of a range of surface water designs, including stormwater management and drainage design, channel realignment/stream restoration, flood mitigation design, culvert/bridge crossing design, and construction phase water management and erosion and sediment control plansAssist with the preparation of detailed design drawings using CIVIL 3DTechnical report writingDevelopment of engineering work plans and engineering and construction cost estimatesAssist with tender document preparation and construction administration/oversightWork efficiently in a team environmentPerform tasks, as requested, efficiently and accurately, using standard methods and techniquesContributing to a vibrant, enthusiastic, and empowered workplace cultureQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsHigh levels of self-motivation and personal accountability for assigned tasks are of paramount importanceExcellent communication skills and a team-first attitudeKnowledge or willingness to learn different hydrologic, hydraulic, and civil field instruments (e.g., level and rod, total station, RTK GPS, flow meter, YSI water quality samplers) and multiple software (e.g., Aquarius, Hyfran, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D)Willingness to travel to project locations within northern Canada and BC to perform fieldwork up to 30 % of timeHold a valid driverxe2x80x99s licenseExperience in the consulting industry is considered an assetExperience working in northern Canada on cold climate challenges is considered an assetEducation and ExperienceBachelorxe2x80x99s or Masterxe2x80x99s degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering0 to 3 years of experience in surface water engineering and/or civil engineeringEligible for eventual P.Eng. registration with Engineers Yukon or Engineers and Geoscientists British ColumbiaTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
