We are currently looking to add a Junior Underwriter to our growing team.
Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader, the Junior Underwriter will learn from colleagues all aspects of underwriting for Canadian insurers and become responsible for a portfolio for the business. The ideal candidate will have a financial background and be comfortable with elements of financial analysis.
What you will do:
Assess risk for life insurance products based on the company's underwriting guidelines and
make underwriting decisions based on authority limits
Seek clarification from proposed insured on MIB codes, as needed
Review and report MIB coding
Make underwriting decisions "same day" applications within same business day
Participate in weekly team meetings and monthly case clinics
Participate in Underwriting Department phone queue
Distribute applications to team members (all Underwriters do this on a rotating basis)
Meet department SLAs
What we are looking for:
Minimum 2 years experience as an Underwriter assessing Life and Critical Illness applications
Ability to work independently, remotely and within a team environment
Exceptional attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Successful completion of internal Jr. Underwriter training program
