Position Overview
We are seeking a
Junior Underwriter
who is eager to launch their career in private mortgage lending. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on underwriting experience, work alongside senior credit professionals, and contribute to the growth of a dynamic, fast-paced organization.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated to learn the intricacies of alternative mortgage underwriting. You'll be trained to assess risk, review borrower documentation, and support the funding of deals that help clients achieve their financial goals.

Key Responsibilities
Support the underwriting team in reviewing and analyzing mortgage applications.
Collect, verify, and assess borrower documentation including income, assets, and credit history.
Assist in preparing commitment letters, renewal letters, and funding instructions.
Work closely with mortgage brokers, lawyers, and internal teams to ensure smooth deal flow.
Monitor pipeline status and update internal tracking systems with accurate deal data.
Conduct preliminary research on property values, market trends, and risk indicators.
Provide administrative and analytical support to senior underwriters as required.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
1-2 years of experience in financial services, lending, or real estate (preferred but not required).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with brokers and clients.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple files in a deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with mortgage or underwriting software is an asset.
Eagerness to learn and grow within the private lending industry.
Compensation
Compensation will be a combination of a competitive base salary, a performance based annual bonus and 100% employer paid benefits.
