Position Summary:
Prefera Finance is in search of a self-driven, motivated, enthusiastic person with a positive can-do attitude to join our fast-growing team in the consumer finance industry as a full time Junior Paralegal. As a Junior Paralegal, you will assist the Paralegal with analyzing and managing client accounts and when required, prepare, submit Claims, file paperwork while acting and representing the companies' behalf. You will work with clients to strategize a plan to remedy past due payments while meeting recovery targets while supporting various other department functions.

Key Accountabilities:
Nationwide legal debt collection through Small Claims Court paperwork and processing
Support the Lead Paralegal and Prepare Claims, Research Case Law and Attend Small Claims Court & Settlement Conferences
Assist in conducting nationwide legal research and gather relevant information
Compile required documents for court proceedings
Assist in performing detail account audits and cost analysis
Support the Lead Paralegal and Negotiate with late stage debtors to repay outstanding debts
Inbound/outbound environment (no tele-marketing; no auto-dialer)
Lien searches
Review case law
General understanding of RSLA/PPSA acts considered an asset
Skip Tracing Searches
Customer service: update Client contact & account information; quote payout balances etc
Respond to client enquiries (telephone, email, mail)
Providing superior professional service to valued clients

Education & Experience:
Previous work experience in a call-center work environment/equivalent is an asset however not required
Previous work experience in providing excellent customer service
Previous Administrative experience is an asset
Previous Paralegal experience is an asset
Fluent in English & French is an asset however not required
Previous collection experience
Knowledge in Microsoft Office, previous work experience with Excel is an asset

Working Conditions:
Hybridized working environment - work only 1 day a week in office!
Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking to carry out essential duties of the job.
Ability to communicate through the telephone as a main point of contact with dealer partners.
Standard 37.5-hour workweek.
Working hours will be Monday-Friday from 9-5pm.
Required: Ability to commute to our Etobicoke, ON office approximately 1 time per week.
