Metex Manufacturing is a privately owned custom steel fabrication company located in Sudbury, Ontario, specializing in plate work. Our modern, 15,000 sq ft facility and tooling allows us to fabricate practically any size component for industry from mining to equipment manufacturing.

We are looking for a Junior Estimator to join our team. In the role of Junior Estimator, you will be required to work with customers, other Metex team members, and design drawings/documents to estimate project costs and prepare tender documents.

Responsibilities may include:

Meeting with clients and other team members to determine project scope and requirements Estimating costs of labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors and producing final tender submissions Completing full quantity take-offs of all labour, materials and equipment required to complete projects Providing direction on the scope and requirements to the suppliers and subcontractors Soliciting pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for labour, equipment, and material Reviewing subcontractor pricing, inclusions, exclusions or qualifications for price evaluation and subcontractor selection
Desired skills/attributes:

Certification as a estimator, draftsperson or in a related role Proficiency in reading mechanical and structural drawings Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong time management and organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities Attention to detail Bilingual (English/French, preferred) Local to the Sudbury, Ontario area (preferred)

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
