Job Description

The Junior Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, subcontracting, supplies, or equipment for a business. Their duties include negotiating deals with suppliers, researching possible item selections and taking inventory of current products. The Junior Buyer evaluates bids and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Assists in purchasing materials, subcontracting, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Job Related Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all purchasing activities relating to quality, cost, and schedule for assigned vendors.
  • Adhere to applicable work instructions and maintain appropriate procurement records.
  • Prepare and submit RFQ\xe2\x80\x99s to applicable suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Review vendor quotes, evaluate and negotiate for better price, delivery, and quality.
  • Take initiative to identify and drive cost savings.
  • Issue purchase orders with Management approval for Outside Services, Tooling, MRO, Shop, Office, and Miscellaneous vendors.
  • Assist Procurement Manager and Senior Buyer with quoting and sourcing requirements and projects.
  • Co-ordinate, communicate and prioritize outside processing and subcontractor needs daily.
  • Review applicable supplier report cards with follow up meetings for performance related issues.
  • Maintain active price and lead time lists and communicate changes.
  • Effectively interact cross-functionally with Logistics, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Production, Finance, Programs, and other Departments.
  • Liaise with Planning to administer changes in schedules with minimal impact to production.
  • Assist Senior Buyer with supplier recovery schedules to meet organization\xe2\x80\x99s demand requirements.
  • Secure Competitive bids for industrial goods and services.

Training, Experience, Education and Skill Requirements
  • Minimum: College Diploma in Business or Material Management
  • Preferred: PMAC SCMP designation or working towards
  • 1+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a Procurement role
  • Solid understanding of ERP/MRP and production planning principles
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and focus on customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
  • Initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results.
