Position:

Associate Lawyer

Anticipated Start Date:

We are a reputable criminal defence law firm seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate to join our growing team of advocates

1-3 year call $70,000-$85,000

3-5 year call with sufficient trial experience in Criminal law: starting at $90,000

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of criminal files including multiple high-profile homicide cases under the mentorship of senior counsel.

Responsibilities:

Managing and conducting set dates Reviewing disclosure, conducting legal research, and writing Managing files from arrest to trial Conducting bail hearings Conducting CPTs and JPTs Conducting pleas and resolutions Regularly communicating with clients and managing the client relationship Conducting trials and preliminary hearings

Skills and Requirements:

1-5 year call with experience in criminal law Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Strong work ethic and ability to work independently Passionate about ensuring the highest quality defence for every client Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to work independently Flexible schedule; availability outside of regular office hours is required Friendly demeanor and strong communication skills with clients and Crowns Confidence and comfort in making submissions in court Quick study and eager to learn
