is a successful criminal defence law firm in Downtown Toronto, representing clients across Ontario charged with a wide range of criminal offences. We are seeking a

junior Associate Lawyer

to join our team.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a

minimum of one year of experience in criminal law

, a strong courtroom presence, and a passion for advocacy. This role offers the opportunity to

manage a varied caseload independently

while receiving meaningful mentorship and litigation experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage files from intake to trial, including client communication and management Conduct bail hearings, plea hearings, trials, and set-date appearances Assist with complex criminal files and trial preparation Review disclosure, prepare factums, applications, and memos Conduct Crown Pre-Trials (CPT) and Judicial Pre-Trials (JPT) appearances Attend courthouses and jails (as required) Perform legal research and draft written submissions Demonstrate strong oral and written advocacy Maintain excellent organizational skills Manage a busy caseload independently

Qualifications

Minimum

one year of experience in criminal defence

Licensed to practice in good standing with the

Law Society of Ontario

Strong courtroom advocacy skills and client-focused approach Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed Exceptional organizational, research, and writing skills
Successful candidates reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting date (required). Office is located Downtown Toronto. This position is in office and not remote.
