We're looking for an Analyst to join our Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund (OCIF) team to help us tell Calgary's story as a great place to make a living and make a life.

Job Summary





The Junior Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund's (OCIF) investment decision-making process by ensuring that all project proposals are thoroughly assessed for financial, operational, and strategic viability. This position is responsible for conducting detailed reviews of applicant submissions, identifying risks, validating documentation, and ensuring alignment with OCIF's governance and regulatory frameworks.



The role works closely with internal teams, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to gather and verify information, request clarifications, and contribute to the development of funding recommendations.

Key Responsibilities




Review and validate applicant documentation, including financial statements, business plans, and supporting materials. Analyze applicant financials to assess sustainability, risk exposure, and alignment with OCIF funding criteria. Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or red flags in submissions and request clarifications or additional information from applicants. Prepare detailed due diligence summaries, highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations for funding decisions. Support update of program materials and development of board materials and reporting to City Administration and Council. Maintain accurate records of due diligence processes, including decision rationales and supporting documentation, in compliance with internal governance standards. Use productivity and CRM tools (e.g., Monday.com, Salesforce) to track due diligence progress and ensure timely completion of reviews. Support audit readiness by maintaining organized and complete records of all due diligence activities and decision-making processes. Provide general support to the OCIF team as needed.

You're a strategic thinker with a sharp analytical edge who excels at conducting thorough reviews, identifying risks, and synthesizing financial and operational data to support sound decision-making. Your attention to detail, strong writing and presentation skills, and ability to navigate governance frameworks make you a trusted contributor in high-stakes environments.



You're comfortable using tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems, and you're quick to learn new platforms. You know how to manage shifting priorities and keep things moving in a fast-paced environment.

Education





Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.



CPA, MBA or PMP designation would be considered an asset

Experience





Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.

Key Skills and Competencies




Proven client service orientation with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal client and key stakeholders. Quality assurance (Analytical and methodical) Ability to understand legal agreements. Experience with government funding or venture capital programs is an asset Developed communication and project management skills. Demonstrated strength in report writing/ presentations/communication skills. Organizational skills Budgeting and Risk management Computer skills: + - Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Experience with CRM and Project Management software
- MS office 365
- Experienced in AI-driven data analysis
Familiarity with market data platforms such as Pitchbook, Crunchbase, and CB Insights. Excellent work ethic and energy level Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
