Reporting to the Supervisor, Partnerships & Engagement, the Tenant Engagement Coordinator (TEC) is responsible for working across CityHousing Hamilton (CHH) communities to plan, initiate, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a range of tenant programs, activities, and services in accordance with CHH's Tenants First culture. TECs provide community development, tenant engagement and tenant leadership support to meet the needs of tenant communities through planning, developing and monitoring relevant programs and partnerships.



Using data, tenant feedback and following an equity, diversity, and inclusivity approach, TECs work directly with external and internal partners, and tenants building relationships to identify service gaps, programming needs and opportunities specific to CHH communities. TECs support and assist tenants who wish to plan and deliver tenant-led programming and initiatives.

GENERAL DUTIES





Promote the community needs and interests of tenants and ensure these interests are integrated into the planning, development, and implementation of community specific plans, programs, and services to foster and support healthy, engaged, and inclusive CHH communities.



Identify community program and service gaps not currently filled by stakeholders and providers. Develop opportunities to bridge these gaps through partnerships and relationships with community-based agencies, social services, private sector organizations and other stakeholders.



Seek, develop and implement funding proposals, work plans, regular reports, updates, and evaluation tools to document and measure effectiveness of partnerships, programs, and other community initiatives.



Initiate, research, plan, develop, deliver and evaluate a variety of programs which foster high-value social, cultural, recreational, and educational activities for the benefit of all tenants living in CityHousing Hamilton (CHH).



Build an understanding of the diversity of all CHH communities, emerging issues and opportunities including community demographics, community assets, networks, coalitions, and information sharing forums



Identify opportunities to build capacity among seniors, youth, and families to support the principles of Tenants First, leading to better outcomes for all tenants.



Collaborate with neighbourhood groups and community partners around seniors, youth and family driven programs and mentoring. Provides feedback to community agencies that directly work with seniors, youth and families.



Consult with communications staff; be familiar and stay informed with information on social media to expand tenant engagement methods and communication with partners.



Work collaboratively with staff across CHH to facilitate the resolution of specific community issues such as maintenance, safety and communications through meetings, task groups, education and training programs, etc.



Receive and answer inquiries from public, tenants, staff from other City departments, elected officials and community agencies and organizations. Monitor service level indicators and report back to Supervisor, Partnerships & Engagement.



Provide mentoring, training and direction to students of registered educational institutions, volunteers and tenant facilitators.



Monitor and liaise with community programs, partners and tenant led groups to ensure standards and legal obligations are adhered to, such as risk management standards for amenity and community house space.



Support and engage tenants to implement tenant-led initiatives and encourage tenant leaders through skill development opportunities such as governance, financial management, planning, conflict resolution, etc.



Plan, implement, and facilitate tenant focus groups, surveys, community engagement events to obtain tenant input and feedback on gaps in services, service delivery, emerging issues, and current programming. Convert tenant feedback into useful data.



Work in collaboration with the Tenants First Team (tenants) and other sections in CityHousing Hamilton to support the distribution of communications and public relations materials.



Work closely with the Tenants First Team to assist in the development of agenda material, provide administrative support and guidance, track work plan outcomes and assist in the preparation of the Tenants First Team annual report to the Board.



Collaborate with the Community Safety & Support Team and Tenant Services Team to increase tenant interest, engagement, involvement and participation in the existing services and programs provided to them.



Develop, design, revise and implement, program evaluation and functional assessment tools in conjunction with Supervisor. Provide input on the development and evolution of performance standards ensuring identified outcomes are met.



Assist in developing standard operating procedures for team as well as evaluate opportunities to enhance and streamline service delivery to seniors, youth and families as a whole.



Track progress of community development initiatives to ensure alignment with program goals, strategic priorities, and organizational focus areas. Identify lessons learned and make recommendations regarding resource allocation and program development for future initiatives.



Prepare reports for senior staff regarding results of tenant engagement initiatives.



Participate in the development of the Tenant Engagement Coordinators' annual Work Plans and the setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the section.



Maintain confidentiality with tenants and community members.



Work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.



Perform other duties as assigned which are related to the major responsibilities of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS





Knowledge of principles and theories of Social Services, usually gained through a college diploma in a Social Service or Community Development program or equivalent relevant work experience. A university degree would be an asset.

Extensive experience in community development, engagement and leadership, program and partnership development, delivery, and evaluation, health promotion.

Solution-oriented to meet challenges facing individuals and families who are served by CHH, including but not limited to seniors, families, youth, immigrants, refugees, 2SLGBTQIA+ and those with health issues.

Demonstrated knowledge of available resources, services and programs in the community and ability to keep up to date in this knowledge.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and perform effectively in a dynamic and complex work environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to crisis situations.

Demonstrated experience in facilitating group planning and developing strategies, initiatives and managing projects and coordinating committees.

Demonstrated experience in conducting community and individual needs assessments and developing strategies to address outcomes identified.

Strong report writing and data analysis skills to support various reports, grant proposals and communication needs.

Ability to develop and promote social, cultural, recreational, tenant engagement and educational programs for a diverse tenant group.

Demonstrated administrative, project management and coordination skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to make presentations.

Ability to understand CityHousing Hamilton policies, procedures, and objectives with respect to tenant-oriented programs and engagement.

Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, and Housing Services Act, 2011.

Analytical and problem-solving skills are required to evaluate needs and develop programs to meet those needs.

Grant writing and management (budgetary oversight) experience is an asset.

Experience in a computerized environment. Excellent knowledge of computer applications in a Windows environment, intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).

Ability to communicate in a second or third language is an asset.

Ability to work flexible and varied hours (some evenings and weekends will be required throughout the year to meet the scheduling needs of tenants).

Graphic design skills considered an asset.


THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID CLASS "G" DRIVER'S LICENCE AND PROOF THEREOF IS REQUIRED AFTER HIRE.
