Ministry of Healths ongoing restructuring of our provincial healthcare system. To date we are a collaborative group of 30+ partners and affiliates who are working together with patients, families, and caregivers, to enhance healthcare across the Nipissing district. We are looking to hire a team-oriented, motivated individual with a working knowledge of our healthcare system to be our Communications and Engagement
Coordinator. The successful candidate will work alongside the NW OHT Executive Lead and our NW OHT Patient, Family and Caregiver Council, and Collaboration Council and play a key role in supporting internal and external communications, as well as supporting planning and implementation of community engagement.Responsibilities: Update and operationalize NW OHT 24-25 communication plan
Ensure accurate and comprehensive web content to engage and inform our stakeholders
Develop a strong online presence by maintaining the NW OHT website and creating a social media presence
Plan, organize, and implement internal and external communication plans and activities. This includes researching, writing, and editing content for materials such as quarterly newsletters, external press releases, press conferences, in- house publications, project reports, audio-visual, etc. Be the direct contact for all media related inquiries and facilitate interviews with the appropriate spokesperson(s). Work with PFCC and NWOHT Collaboration Council to co-design and launch community engagement strategy Engage with NWOHT partner organization communications leads to ensure co- ordinated and integrated approach to communication and community engagement Partner with NWOHT working groups to create and deploy integrated communications campaigns that meet NWOHT goals and objectives Monitor and report on progress
Lead development of influential engagement for various target audiences and stakeholders including briefing notes, presentations, speaking notes, key messages, updates, and external newsletters Support the organization and execution of town hall style meetings, and other community engagement events, to engage the public and regional partners in the work of the NW OHT Embed in all NWOHT work the shared vision, values and guiding principles including principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Organize and oversee logistics for events
Work in close collaboration with NW OHT Executive
Other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Education: Undergraduate Degree in communications/public relations, English, journalism, marketing, public health, healthcare administration, or equivalent experience.Experience:A minimum of 5 years working in public relations or communications, preferably within the health and social services sectors.Job Specific Competencies: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in both official languages, including the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders, including patients, front-line healthcare providers, community agencies, and healthcare administrators. Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging and grammatically correct content targeted to different audiences. The ability to multitask and set priorities, managing time effectively.
Possesses a high level of accountability and proven capability to identify opportunities, take initiative, and think through future implications.
Maintain a project calendar and deliver communications within assigned deadlines.
Success in applying critical thinking and project management skills to the communication planning process.
Demonstrated experience implementing engagement and communication plans
Demonstrated experience building connections with diverse stakeholders and audiences
Ability to manage complex demands independently in a fast-paced environment
Creative, professional, self-motivated, and constantly looking to implement best practices in all areas of communications. Demonstrated advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office - PowerPoint, Word,
Excel, and Adobe products). Previous, relevant experience in a healthcare context.
Graphic design skills and video/multimedia production are considered an asset.
Ability to communicate (oral and written) effectively in both official languages required
Demonstrated awareness of First Nations / Inuit / Metis culture and communication needs
Awareness of AODA standards and ability to support full compliance acrossNWOHT

Experience living within the Nipissing region and awareness of communities that make up NWOHTPhysical Environment & Working Conditions: This position is mostly of a sedentary nature and requires long periods working on a computer. There are periods of stress when having to meet tight deadlines. The work environment is currently virtual (subject to change). We do anticipate on site meetings will occur and we will request that staff attend these scheduled meetings in person.
