As the Workplace Accommodations and Equity Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization\'s commitment to accessibility and equity. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the Senate to ensure we provide a supportive and inclusive environment. Your expertise will be critical in managing workplace accommodations, addressing barriers, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop, implement, and manage workplace accommodation programs and services
  • Provide strategic advisory services to employees and managers regarding accommodations
  • Identify and address workplace rules, policies, and practices impacting individuals protected under the Canadian Human Rights Act
  • Lead disability management processes and facilitate employee return-to-work transitions
  • Deliver training sessions on workplace accommodation topics to enhance organizational understanding
  • Identify accessibility barriers and promote inclusivity and equitable practices across HR functions and activities
  • Consult with internal and external groups to gather input on employment-related barriers
  • Offer advice and guidance to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate, full-time position in the Human Resources Directorate.

Prerequisites
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in a field related to the position or having an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Extensive experience implementing accommodations processes for persons covered under the prohibited grounds for discrimination (including, but not limited to, religion, age, gender identity, race, family status, etc.);
  • Experience developing programs, processes, and tools related to accessibility and/or accommodations management;
  • Experience providing advice and guidance across all levels of an organization;
  • Experience conducting analyses and providing strategic advice and guidance on complex cases or subject matter related to the position;
  • In-depth understanding of the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Employment Equity Act, and the Accessible Canada Act;
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources program theories, principles, and best practices;
  • Excellent diplomacy, tact, and interpersonal skills complemented by superior oral and written communications skills in both official languages.
