How will you contribute?

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director, Talent Optimization & Employee Well-Being provides direction and leadership in the development of change management strategy, innovative HR management programs and talent-management solutions including policies, learning and professional development, performance management, recognition, labour and employee relations, health, safety, and employee wellness.

The incumbent will frequently interact with the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration (CIBA) and other related subcommittees comprised of various senators.

In your first six (6) months you will provide leadership and oversight to ensure the advancement of the Senate's learning and development strategy as well as its wellness strategy. You will be instrumental in supporting the strategic direction of Human Resources and making sustainable change in key areas. As the ideal candidate you are an experienced HR professional with a diverse background in human resources. You have a high degree of comfort managing competing and shifting priorities. You effectively navigate landscapes that hold varying levels of authority and accountabilities. Your communications skills are strong and adaptable. You are a natural collaborator and have a strong focus on the health of your team and organizational relationships.

The general public, to staff one (1) permanent full-time position in the Human Resources Directorate.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • University degree in HR management, business administration, industrial relations, or another relevant field or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience managing a team of HR specialists;
  • Progressive HR experience in demonstrating knowledge of various functions of human resources, including talent management, labour and employee relations, health, safety, and employee wellness;
  • Extensive experience in providing HR services and in making recommendations to senior executives on a variety of HR-related topics;
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing HR programs, policies, guidelines, and processes;
  • Experience in delivering complex and significant projects related to HR transformation strategy and change management initiatives;
  • Experience establishing solid working relationships with clients and stakeholders at various organizational levels, as well as in consulting and collaborating with them to develop solutions adapted to their business needs;
  • Experience in developing and delivering briefings and presentations to senior stakeholders on issues that require discretion, judgment, and tact;
  • Experience in interpreting policy, in driving insights through data analytics, and in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters;
  • Experience in developing business plans and resource forecasts and in managing operational budgets;
  • Recognized Human Resources professional designation (e.g., CHRP) considered an asset.
