Job Title Director, Mainframe Optimization, DB2 and Systems Management



This position is responsible for the leadership and management of a diverse portfolio consisting of Mainframe Performance & Capacity planning functions, DB2 for z/OS Support (including supporting SQData and EDA/SQL - IWAY), and Mainframe Systems Management tools (BETA91 for application balancing, HSDS and ACCS for software distribution & Netview.

The incumbent will provide leadership & strategic direction to the team of professionals, as well as interface with senior leadership in the lines of business and their staff to understand and communicate their Mainframe usage, and how they can be optimized including tuning and resource reduction tracking and reporting.

You will manage the support team for DB2, SQData and EDA SQL, BETA91, HSDS/ACCS and Netview ensuring the teams deliver support with highest quality, keeping the products current and with a strategic direction to deliver new function and capabilities in the products over time.

Demonstrate innovative thinking to seek new ways to optimize Mainframe system resources

Capture Mainframe efficiencies through technology, middleware and tuning including: Transaction Optimization, Middleware Tuning, Elimination of redundant work, Technology enhancements in Software and Hardware.

Manage the Performance and Capacity teams to execute measurements and Capacity impacts of changes to the environment from new application deployments to understand impacts to the environments and how best to manage resources.

Deliver an annual Mainframe Capacity plan based on historical growth and application growth forecasts, including tracking Mainframe transactions driven by business volumes as basis for ongoing metrics reported up to senior management team.

Drive the ongoing monitoring and measurement of CPU and subsystem performance and capacity, alerting teams on spikes in consumption impacting performance of applications and systems (eg Month end/Month Beginning), to analyze, understand and document the impacts to our environments, and determine root cause and mitigation actions if any possible.

Manage the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as well as Management and Executive reporting of Performance and Capacity metrics for use by the Senior Management team delivering value in understanding the Mainframe environment, and our use of the resources.

Manage the product support teams to maintain software currency, availability, new function, improved stability thoroughly tested and implemented into production in a timely manner.
