Job Description


The Information Technology (IT) Applications Section of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires an IT Business Analyst who is self-motivated and organized, with exceptional interpersonal skills. Must work well in a challenging, fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, work individually and as part of a team. Responsibilities will include:

  • Effectively elicit, analyze, document, validate, trace, and prioritize business requirements using a variety of business analysis techniques.
  • Identify the key business drivers and translate requirements into use cases and functional specifications.
  • Create deliverables such as conceptual designs, business process models, functional and technical specifications, prototypes and user training and clear and concise documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical, business and project management teams to develop time and resource estimates and manage elements of project scope and schedules.
  • Conduct meetings/focus groups and training sessions with users.
  • Providing guidelines, recommendations and/or mentoring to peers from time to time, hold knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged in the delivery of project objectives and artifacts including strategies associated with user acceptance testing, communications, training, and implementation.
  • Continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with developing the Power Platform strategy and best practices for the Power Platform including deployments and patching.
  • Maintaining, and supporting PowerApps solutions, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Providing guidelines to other projects that integrate or extract information to/from the PowerApps Platform.
  • Develop and improve upon existing test scenarios scripts for System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Provide guidelines and suggestions to improve current business processes.
  • Working collaboratively with various members of the IT Branch to ensure that all application issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Performing related duties as required.
  • Develop in-depth working knowledge of user\xe2\x80\x99s business and technology needs.
  • Expertly resolve stakeholder conflicts, promoting a positive work atmosphere even in challenging situations.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a related discipline and 4 years relevant experience.
  • OR Post-secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5 years relevant experience
  • OR 1-year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
  • Relevant computer certificate programs generally have a minimum of 7+ instructional hours and will include relevant course work to the position. Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is required.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in business analyst methodologies.
  • Experience in Power Platform would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Workforce Software, AspireHR and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, suite of products would be an asset
  • Experience using PeopleSoft, Org Plus, CARM or other similar automated HR/Payroll Information Systems would be an asset.
  • Experience working effectively with non-technical end-users as relates to testing, including writing business test cases, conducting functional testing, and supporting UAT.
  • Strong collaboration, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (leaders, subject matter experts and team members) in facilitating requirements gathering, development of new business processes, fit gap analysis, continuous process improvements and appropriate documentation.
  • Ability to multitask and stay flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency with various Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft 365).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Experience working in a policing/paramilitary organisation, particularly in the area of enterprise level project planning is a significant asset.
  • Professional Designation in Business Analysis (CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA) from the IIBA or PMI is an asset.
  • Applicants may be required to undergo a knowledge or skills assessment test. As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 034, $45.46 - $58.01 (Hourly), $3,637.00 - $4,641.10 (Bi-Weekly), $94,924.66 - $121,133.23 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
