The Connectivity Division leads government\xe2\x80\x99s mandate to expand internet connectivity to all British Columbians in all corners of the province. The division manages provincial funding programs, provides leadership, expertise, tools and supports to communities and local governments in the expansion, coordination and provisioning of telecommunications services, evaluating innovation solutions and pathways to the adoption of emerging technologies that enable the digital transformation of communities in every corner of the Province. The Connectivity Division delivers on this mandate through its Network BC and Connected Communities branches. Applicants are invited to listen to community leaders to learn more about what connectivity means to BC\xe2\x80\x99s communities: Connecting Haida Gwaii Connecting Heiltsuk This senior individual contributor technology role provides leadership in the planning, review and technical assessment of projects submitted to the Connecting Communities BC program. The role will lead technical assessment and negotiation efforts for project assessment, statement of work, and project monitoring for connectivity projects under the BC and federal government\xe2\x80\x99s $830 million investment to provide access to high-speed internet to all households in BC by 2027. This senior role requires both a detailed knowledge of Telecommunications technology, as well as the business acumen to understand how to effectively apply the technology to create value. The position entails consolidating telecommunications requirements across multiple stakeholder organizations, analyzing the best technical solutions to meet those needs, gaining executive consensus on a strategy and providing technical and business analysis.
Job Requirements:
Education:
  • Diploma (or higher) in telecommunications, engineering, computer science or a related field AND a minimum five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 *relevant experience.
Experience:
*Minimum five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 relevant experience in each of the following:
  • Telecommunication industry experience (e.g.: requirements gathering, network architecture, and systems engineering for voice, cellular and LAN/WLAN/WAN services).
  • Experience architecting telecommunication solutions to meet specific business needs \xe2\x80\x93 for voice, cellular and LAN/WLAN/WAN data services.
  • Experience writing and executing telecommunications business plans.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and consultation.



Preferred Requirements:
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Post-secondary degree in telecommunications, engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • Experience in the context of multi-party projects that require building trust with multiple and diverse stakeholders and managing influence.
