Position Summary:
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of powder coating materials and related supplies. This role ensures that production operations have the required materials at all times through effective tracking, storage, and replenishment of inventory. The position involves coordination between sales, production, and operations teams to maintain efficient material flow and minimize waste or shortages.
You will work closely with the Administrative, Sales and Production teams to manage and optimize the supplies of Colourific's operations.
Job Specific Responsibilities & Duties:
Inventory Management
Monitor and maintain daily powder inventory levels across all production operations.
Maintaining and managing spray paint cans inventory.
Track and record powder shelf-life dates and ensure timely rotation to prevent expiration.
Handle bonded metallic, fluoropolymer, and specialty powders according to supplier guidelines to avoid contamination or degradation
Perform regular cycle counts and assist with monthly and year-end inventory reconciliations.
Track incoming and outgoing powder materials using ERP or inventory management systems.
Maintain proper storage conditions for powder coating materials, including temperature and humidity control, to preserve coating quality.
Identify discrepancies and investigate inventory variances promptly.
Responsible for managing PPE and packaging inventories.
Ensure all materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated following FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with the Sales Department to reorder powder and related materials as needed.
Communicate powder requirements, shortages, and delivery updates to production supervisors.
Liaise with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure timely deliveries.
Provide the Administration team with all packing slips for powder and other deliveries daily
Work closely with Quality Control to ensure correct material usage and batch traceability.
Ensure that all new powder batches are tested, approved, and released by the Quality Control department before being added to production inventory.
Operational Support
Support production teams by staging required powders for upcoming jobs.
Communicate with the Maintenance team to identify and prevent powder contamination risks from equipment or environmental factors.
Monitor reclaim collection and usage, ensuring proper labeling and segregation to maintain quality standards.
Assist logistics team with calls and emails.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of powder storage areas.
Assist with disposal of expired or nonconforming materials per company and environmental policies.
Generate inventory and consumption reports for management review.
Health & Safety
Follow all workplace safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Participate in lean and 5S initiatives to improve storage organization, labeling, and replenishment efficiency.
Handle materials in accordance with WHMIS and other safety standards.
Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library for all coating materials and ensure proper labeling and handling compliance.
Support environmental and waste-management by ensuring correct documentation of powder disposal and reclaim usage
Report any hazards, spills, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field is an asset.
2+ years of experience in inventory control or warehouse coordination (manufacturing or coatings industry preferred).
Proficiency in MS Office and inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, SAP, or similar).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a production/warehouse environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Must possess positive team attitude, strong work ethic, time-management skills, multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines & be a team player
Must have proficient computer skills
