Responsibilities
OVERALL PURPOSE: Supports and coordinates BCRTC\xe2\x80\x99s internal communications plans for various corporate projects, initiatives, policies, and events to successfully communicate to employees across the organization. Designs and creates eye-catching visuals, infographics, and images that effectively communicate information and enhance engagement. Creates and edits photo and videos for internal communication purposes, including employee interviews, company announcements, and instructional content. Generates written communications to employees on behalf of maintenance and operations for activities that impact the company. Maintains internal communication channels, including intranet, email newsletters, and digital screens. Provides assistance to the senior advisor in collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather information and create content that aligns with company goals and values. Assists in monitoring the effectiveness of internal communications initiatives through feedback, analytics, and surveys. Assists with promotion and supports a variety of corporate initiatives. Performs related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature that do not affect the value of the job. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports internal communication plans and conveys key messages and updates to employees. Providing support in researching, writing and editing material - e.g. news releases, presentation notes, website copy, internal newsletters/magazines, etc; Coordinates the delivery of multimedia content as required to better promote the work of BCRTC and deliver in alternative formats to written documents. This might be as photo, video or other audiovisual as required; Arranging for tours, site visits by elected representatives or other officials and accompanying them as required; Assisting in maintaining web content elements; Coordinating graphic collateral and photography for the department and other internal stakeholders; Providing communications writing, planning, support, and design/presentation assistance for corporate meetings and events. Generates written communications to employees on behalf of maintenance and operations for activities that impact the company. Designs and creates eye-catching visuals, infographics, and images that effectively communicate information and enhance engagement. Assisting in creating visually appealing and innovative design concepts, graphics, and layouts for various projects, including websites, social media, print materials, and other marketing collateral; Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their design requirements and objectives, and translating them into creative design solutions; Ensuring a consistent brand identity across all design materials, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and standards; Using industry-standard design software and tools to create high-quality digital and print designs, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.); Producing and delivering design assets in various formats and sizes, optimized for different platforms and mediums; Staying up-to-date with design trends, techniques, and software advancements to continuously improve design skills and output; Providing input to the development of design strategies, brainstorming sessions, and creative briefings Creates and edits photo and videos for internal communication purposes, including employee interviews, company announcements, and instructional content. Capturing high-quality photographs and videos that align with the company\'s brand image and communication goals; Planning and carrying out photography and video shoots for various company events, products, services, and campaigns; Conceptualizing and developing creative ideas and storyboards for photography and video projects, ensuring they effectively convey key messages and engage the audience; Operating professional cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and other relevant gear to capture visually compelling and technically sound images and videos; Editing, retouching, and enhancing photographs using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom) to ensure optimal quality, composition, and color correction; Editing and assembling video footage, adding special effects, graphics, and music to create captivating and impactful videos using video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro); Maintaining an extensive library of photographs and videos, ensuring easy accessibility and proper archival storage; Staying updated with the latest trends, techniques, and equipment in photography and videography, continuously improving skills and adapting to evolving technologies. Provides assistance to the senior advisor in collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather information and create content that aligns with company goals and values. Maintains internal communication channels, including intranet, email newsletters, and digital screens. Ensuring that the Employee SharePoint site and intranet are kept up to date with the latest information for easy access for staff; Ensuring content is relevant and promoted if necessary through banners, front page promotion and pushes; Using internal news network, ENN, to promote new stories and events through use of video and photo Assists monitoring the effectiveness of internal communications initiatives through feedback, analytics, and surveys. Assists with promotion and supports a variety of corporate initiatives, including, but not limited to the Employee Recognition and Appreciation Event, BCRTC Family Day Open House, Take Our Kids to Work, I Love Transit Camp, the United Way Employee Campaign, Toys for Tots, and various other corporate and enterprise events. Performs related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Requires completion of a post-secondary diploma in Communications or a related field. EXPERIENCE: Requires two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in corporate communications or public relations within a large public organization including experience in electronic publishing. Requires up to six (6 months) in the position to become familiar with BCRTC\xe2\x80\x99s policies and processes.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Rate of Pay
Wage: $38.36 per hour Please note: All new employees will be subject to a 6-week trainee rate at 75% of the hourly rate. The Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan.
