The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. Qualifications:
Successfully completed a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician program and registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as an Intern Pharmacy Technician(required)
Successfully completed the Practice Assessment of Competence at Entry (PACE) for pharmacy technician applicants
Working towards completing other final requirements for full licensure;
o Jurisprudence
o PEBC Qualifying Exam (both parts)
Principal Duties:
While working under direct supervision of a Part A pharmacy technician:
Collaborating with the Pharmacists
Dispensing medications for all hospital patients across all Bluewater Health sites and Pharmacy Care, the hospital out-patient pharmacy as required
Compounding sterile preparations for both hazardous and non-hazardous products such as IV admixtures, TPNs and chemotherapy
Non-sterile compounding e.g., creams, ointments and oral liquids
repackaging oral liquids, tablets or capsules as required with automated repackaging equipment
Restocking medications in Automated Dispensing cabinets
Restocking trays for RFID Anesthesia Carts
Daily controlled drugs and substance dispensing and perpetual inventory control
Returns unused medication to stock, including billing and crediting
Delivers medication to Nursing Units
Interviews patients for best possible medication histories (BPMH)
Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
Receiving and barcoding medications
Replenishes stock and dispenses medications from Swisslog Boxpicker Robot
Other related duties as assigned
