Be part of building a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games. The COC is seeking a dynamic individual to join its communications team. This position will be responsible for supporting sport and corporate communications. The intern will be crafting communications for internal and external stakeholders, performing project management task for multiple projects including the 2023 Pan American Games, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and other communications initiatives, while assisting with administrative duties.

LOCATION

This internship will be located in the COC office in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St., Suite 3000.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

  • Assisting with 2023 Pan American Games preparation
    • Pre-Games planning
    • Media registration
    • Pre-Games events
    • Team Canada materials (athlete guides, mission team communication guides, etc.)
  • Assisting with 2024 Paris Olympic Games preparation
    • Pre-Games planning
    • Media registration
    • Pre-Games events
    • Team Canada materials (athlete guides, mission team communication guides, etc.)
  • Assisting the organization of a Canadian sport communications summit
    • Communications
    • Venue location and rental
    • Invitations
    • Planning (subjects, speakers, format)
  • Assisting in drafting communications intended for external stakeholders, including members of the international sports community;
  • Presentation (PowerPoint) design;
  • Administrative tasks and other responsibilities, as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

  • Must be enrolled in a Canadian degree or diploma program in Marketing/Communications or Sport Management or relevant field
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral & written
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, government relations, international relations, and/or communications
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Positive, outgoing personality
  • Eagerness to learn and be a team player
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and WordPress is a plus
  • Ability to speak and write in French is an asset
  • Demonstrates and embodies the COC values of Accountability, Excellence, Fun, Respect and Bravery

TERM

This full-time internship will run from approximately mid-September 2022 to mid-December 2022, depending on the successful intern’s availability and the academic calendar.

COMPENSATION

This is a paid internship. The intern will earn an hourly wage of $16.00 with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
