Job Overview


The Interior Designer develops and executes interior design concepts, collaborating closely with architects, clients, and consultant teams to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. They are responsible for interior design concept development, selecting materials, finishes, and furnishings, ensuring that designs comply with building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards. They prepare detailed design documentation and oversee the installation of interior elements, as well as conduct site visits to ensure project execution aligns with the design vision.

Duties



Bachelor's degree or diploma in interior design from an accredited institution 1+ years of experience in an interior design role. Experience working within project timelines and workplans to meet expectations and deadlines. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards as it relates to interior design.

Skills



Design, Documentation, and Communication

Create conceptual and design drawings using design software. Select and specify furniture, finishes, materials, and colour schemes that meet project requirements and design goals. Create 3D models and visualizations to support design presentations and reviews. Implement design changes based on feedback from the project architect, clients, project teams, or regulatory authorities. Contribute to preparing comprehensive construction drawings and specifications. Prepare drawings and documents for permit applications, documenting compliance with local regulations. Prepare documentation illustrating compliance with building codes and regulations for review by the Architect of Record. Communicate with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure designs are coordinated and documented clearly. Collaborate with senior interior designers, architects, and technologists to address technical challenges during the design and construction phases. Research materials, products, and systems to inform design decisions and project specifications. Prepare for review: project specifications, confirming alignment with the design vision and quality standards. Stay updated on current trends in interior design, materials, and technologies to bring innovative ideas to projects.
Project Coordination

Coordinate with external suppliers, contractors, and vendors to source materials, obtain samples, and manage product deliveries. Collaborate closely with the project manager to track project progress, schedules, and deliverables for interior design tasks.
Construction

Prepare construction documents for permit applications related to interior design components. Conduct site visits to ensure that the interior design elements are being executed in conformance with contract documents and resolve any on-site issues. Prepare submittal reviews, field reviews, and other administrative tasks during construction.
General

Contribute to a culture of team building and continuous improvement. Contribute to interior design standards for the office. Attend regular meetings, daily huddles, and other meetings as required. Proactively engages in relevant professional development. Follow policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Track time accurately.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
