Our Team

The Integrated Planning & Scheduling (IPS) Superintendent will lead the Maintenance Planning and Engineering team. This is a high-profile role that directly supports Copper Cliff Mine Complex in achieving safety, business, and production targets by ensuring the right maintenance is done at the right time.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Integrated Planning & Scheduling (IPS)Superintendent to join Copper Cliff Mine Complex part of Ontario Operations in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

You will manage the Integrated Maintenance Planning and Scheduling for the site. The role is accountable for the following: developing the site integrated maintenance plan and the integrated site schedule; execution of the Asset Management business processes within the Vale Production System (VPS) and usage of related systems/tools such as SAP, Power BI, etc. The role also includes the management of a team of Maintenance Engineers which are responsible for technical assistance, assessments, appropriate design work as well as the approval and scoping of engineering requests to be submitted to the Central Engineering Department.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Ensure planning and scheduling processes closely align with the Maintenance Planning and Control documentation.
  • Execute the business processes (VPS Technical) and apply appropriate tools (i.e. SAP).
  • Develop mastery in business processes (VPS Technical) and related tools/systems (i.e. SAP/Prometheus, Power BI, Stratsw, etc.).
  • Participate in VPS audits, as required.
  • Participate in major upgrades of SAP, enhancement development, testing, etc. as required.
  • Participate in the Maintenance Community of Practices as required.
  • Pursue expanded use of the business processes and systems as required (Continuous Improvement).
  • Understand and report out on deviations of Maintenance KPIs.
  • Manage the maintenance strategy for the site.
  • Participate in the development of the Maintenance Budget (Operating & Capital including Rotational Material).
  • Create and distribute ramp down/up scheduled for major plant outages.
  • Maintain the cross-boundary schedule.
  • Participate in the optimization of existing maintenance plans.
  • Report out weekly on maintenance stats, trends to the Cooper Cliff Mine Complex Leadership Team.
  • Develop, participate in and execute continuous improvement plans - addressing common cause issues within the plant.
  • Work with the warehousing group to ensure the right material is stocked with appropriate min/max levels.
  • Lead site Maintenance Engineers who are accountable for day-to-day technical assistance, assessments, appropriate design work and scoping of engineering requests.
  • Help troubleshoot and build site SAP skillset.
  • Work closely with Reliability Engineering, Asset Management, and Project and Shutdown Maintenance.
About You

Education:
  • One or more of the following Certifications / Qualifications are preferred:
  • Engineering Technologist
  • Engineer
  • Canadian Maintenance Reliability Professional
  • Maintenance Management Professional (MMP)
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Maintenance Supervision, Planning/Scheduling or Reliability related role.
Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management, Maintenance Engineering, VPS Technical.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP functionality.
  • Maintenance supervision, project implementation, and engineering knowledge.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong organization, systematic and time management skills.
  • Takes initiative and is self-directed to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid financial knowledge to make business cases and decisions
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
