About Potash

BHP\xe2\x80\x99s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\xe2\x80\x99s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\xe2\x80\x99s global portfolio. Jansen\xe2\x80\x99s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.


Purpose



The Lead Logistics Planning & Scheduling will lead all logistics planning and scheduling activity, inclusive of quality management and assurance in the planning and scheduling timeframe. They will ensure that the shipping and railing plans and schedules meet Sales and Operational Planning targets by generating optimised plans and schedules to supply product from Jansen to market which minimize cost, manage inventory, and meet customer requirements. They will also develop and execute operational readiness requirements, delivers the logistics planning activity, and lead the scheduling and quality activity.

About the Role



In this role, you will:
  • Deliver the logistics planning activity in the required timeframe, including:
    • Shipment planning to ensure utilization of available capacity at lowest logistics cost
    • Rail planning to ensure shipping demand is met and inventories are managed within Operating Window limits
    • Capability Planning (logistics capacity planning) including establishment of Supply Chain Planning Parameters and 1SAP
  • Lead the delivery of Logistics Scheduling activity and Quality Management and Assurance
  • Develop capability to coordinate the optimization of outbound product movement
  • Manage the aggregation and consolidation of the Operations shipping and rail schedules into an integrated Asset level forecast in 1SAP (Balance Supply & Demand 1SAP process)
  • Lead the implementation and monitors effectiveness of Planning improvement initiatives with support from Integrated Planning and Analysis & Improvement
  • Provide input into long-term planning (RDP, Life of Asset, 5 year plan, 2 year budget and short range forecast)
  • Liaise with supply chain stakeholders to ensure shipping demand can be fulfilled, inventories managed and plans are achievable.
  • Validate system inputs and capacity constraints to ensure integrity of plans
  • Develop operating strategies for the supply chain in support of the integrated plan
  • Ensure effective handover of deliverables, knowledge, context to scheduling team members and logistics coordination personnel to ensure successful mitigation of take or pay liabilities, operational costs, demurrage and other sources of cost or waste
  • Communicate plan to Potash supply chain stakeholders including marketing, operations, rail operators, US distribution terminals, and ports


Work Location



Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

About You



  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Thorough knowledge of regulated rail access processes and rail haulage requirements
  • Proven understanding of bulk shipping practices and requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to guide and influence a focused, engaged and high-performing team
  • SAP competency in Supply Chain Management is considered an advantage
  • Action-oriented and able to confidently drive complex problems to solutions, make trade-offs and implement changes effectively through groups and teams
  • Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with an aptitude for navigating complex challenges with a wide variety of global stakeholders
  • Proven understanding of risk management principles and their applications
  • Motivated to establish new systems and processes from concept to execution
