About the role

Reporting to the Director of Project Controls, the Corporate Planning and Scheduling Manager is responsible for the scheduling and planning portion of the Project Controls knowledge area. This includes steering the Graham Management System (GMS) planning and scheduling processes and systems through collaboration with all operations groups and knowledge of industry best practices.

The Planning and Scheduling Manager is responsible to enhance the company's corporate planning and scheduling expertise. Liaison with operations planners and schedulers, gathering and prioritizing overall business requirements and monitoring compliance. Their expertise will be incorporated into training and providing escalation support on project planning and scheduling activities.

As a Planning & Scheduling Manager at Graham you will:

  • Provide best practices in Schedule development, updating, work packaging and short interval planning
  • Assist project teams with issues, questions, and support related to the use of planning and scheduling software and procedures.
  • Provide training / development to scheduling staff in planning and scheduling software.
  • Monitor project teams adherence to GMS planning and scheduling processes
  • Coordinate with Cost Control, Document Management and other adjacent processes and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic schedule assessments on projects to ensure best practices are being followed.
  • Assist schedule analysis to support large claims for time extension.
  • Lead projects in the completion of a Quantitative Schedule Risk Assessment
  • Steward planning and scheduling GMS process, standards ensuring all documentation is current
  • Collaborate with HR on Planning and Scheduling training content and delivery
  • Consolidate collective requests into prioritized business requirements
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including collaboration with related processes such as estimating, quantity tracking and forecasting
  • Facilitate a routine meeting with operations lead planners and schedulers
  • Coordinate and participate in the management of planning scheduling and associated reporting.
  • Manage overhead cost to be in line with annual budgets
  • Provide recommendations and advice towards the cash flow based on experience.
  • Interact with Operations management and planning and scheduling teams.
  • Communicate with the Planning / Scheduling team.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Completion of a university bachelor program in a technical / business / scientific field of study; Degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
  • PMP and/or PEng designation is an asset.
  • CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) is an asset.
  • 12-15 years of scheduling / planning experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience managing a team of people.
  • General contractor project management and cost control experience is an asset.
  • Experience working on engineering, procurement, and construction schedules on complex projects.
  • Joint venture experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency using Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling Software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including SharePoint
