Reporting to the Vice President of Insurance and Risk and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the Insurance and Risk Analyst will support the Avenue Living Group of Companies acquisition and insurance placement activities. This position will be a member of the Insurance and Risk team. WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Supports insurance underwriting and renewal activities for the company
  • Supports new acquisition due diligence by collecting, reviewing and disseminating BCA/PSA, ESA’s, Appraisals, site plans and insurance histories
  • Corresponds with and coordinates activities with insurance brokers
  • Maintains and audits Statement of Values – collaborates with finance and operations teams to ensure current values are reflected and changes in data are updated at least quarterly, and premiums are allocated according to corporate guidelines
  • Responds to insurance related inquiries from internal groups, lenders, and suppliers/contractors
  • Collaborates and works closely with procurement and other areas to ensure risk transfer mechanisms in contracts are optimal, considering the nature of services provided
  • Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management reporting
  • Maintains up to date insurance data, records, policies of insurance and related documents in the corporate RMS system
  • Reviews incident reports to determine action internally or for assignment to third-party adjuster
  • Supports the Vice President regarding all aspects of corporate insurance programs. Responsibilities include claims administration, loss forecasting, and analysis to assist in loss reduction and other duties as may be assigned
WHAT WILL YOU NEED:
  • 2 Year College program or equivalent related experience in, finance, risk management and/or equivalent
  • Enrolment in or completion of CRM or CIP designation
  • 2-4 Years of experience in with combination of adjusting, broking and underwriting experience will be considered, with a preference for commercial underwriting or broking in a large or risk managed insurance environment
  • Ability and comfort to review insurance and contractual documents (insurance certificates, policy documents, contracts, etc.)
  • Prior experience with manuscript wordings and/or international placements is preferred
  • Previous experience in building construction or restoration projects will be an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean abstract
  • Flexibility – Avenue is a very active organization – need to multitask, self-regulate, and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to present to all staff levels including management
  • Requires a high level of mathematical and reasoning ability to calculate and analyze data to arrive at a logical conclusion
