Your Opportunity:

An exciting, new opportunity exists within the Children\'s Hospice and Palliative Service (CHAPS), located at Rotary Flames House, on the campus of the Alberta Children\'s Hospital. We are seeking an excited, innovative, enthusiastic RN who has a passion both for education and the excellent care of pediatric patients with life limiting illnesses, and their families. The role of Instructor/ Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is new to our program and comes with many opportunities including supporting the enhancement of community based pediatric palliative care.

Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Minimum 3 years within the past 7 years clinical experience in acute palliative care. Minimum 1 year experience in the past 5 in a leadership position. Knowledge and ability to apply principles of adult teaching/learning and change management. Experience in monitoring & promoting change in health care delivery including technical, service delivery & health care practice. Demonstrated mentorship/preceptoring. Demonstrated engagement with quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrated committee involvement. Demonstrated commitment to Professional Development (clinical and leadership): avg 2 courses/year each of the past 3 years. Computer skills in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint. Preferred Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in nursing/equivalent health related degree. Previous experience as an Instructor/CNE. Demonstrated proficiency in pediatric palliative care /acute pediatrics Experience in educational program design, coordination, delivery & evaluation, supporting individual, organizational & legislative educational needs. Canadian Nurses Association Certification (CHPCN, CpedN) - acquired or in progress. Pallium LEAP workshop(s). How to Care, What to Say course Other relevant courses
