Position: Instructional Designer / Learning & Development / Fraud Governance, Internal Control and Training Team

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Fraud Governance, Internal Controls and Training Team, supporting the Canada Fraud Operations Training Program Knowledge Management Team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, audit protocols, internal policies, and procedures.

As the Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for developing learning content based on established learning frameworks

Accountabilities

  • Understand and deliver a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Accountable for executing change requests for updated and new training content (including, but not limited to version accuracy, request requirements, document review for formatting and language standards, etc.).
  • Develops or advises the overall framework, design, strategy of courses, ensuring alignment with learning needs and service level agreements.
  • Creates mock-ups, scripts, of storyboard to support development of digital learning content
  • Champion usability and accessibility of learning material by utilizing technical digital knowledge to develop accessible digital learning content.
  • Maintains learning programs to ensure up-to-date learning content, friendly usability, troubleshooting technical issues, etc. Provides end-user support and resolves low risk inquiries and concerns. Collaborates with the Learning Delivery team to execute courses and maintain existing learning programs.
  • Understands how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

Dimensions
  • The Instructional Designer supports the planning, execution, and implementation of multiple Learning & Development projects/initiatives for Fraud Operations encompassing BNS products (Visa, AMEX, Mastercard, Commercial, Small Business, etc.).
  • The incumbent is evaluated based on the success of achieving each project/initiative on time, and in scope.
  • Along with possessing effective communications skills, the incumbent must be organized; have a strong attention to detail and be able to work independently within a team environment of offline.
  • The incumbent must exercise a high degree of discretion and independent judgment to handle confidential documentations, determine work priorities and effectively multi-task.
  • Indirectly supports approximately 400+ Fraud Management frontline employees across the Walkley, Wynford, Bogota and Dominican Republic Campuses.
Education / Experience / Other Information
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Digital Communications, or Adult Learning is an asset
  • Previous experience as an Instructional Designer or Learning Experience Design role
  • Advanced knowledge of Articulate Storyline, and/or other eLearning software
  • Advanced knowledge of Camtasia and/or Snagit as video editing software
  • Advanced knowledge of developing for Accessibility according to AODA standard
  • Previous experience in Learning Management Systems
  • Previous experience in designing and developing digital learning content preferred
Working Conditions
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours could be a common occurrence.
  • The incumbent must work under tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and changing project requirements.
  • Must be able to react quickly to resolve problems and work overtime on many occasions to meet project deadlines.
  • Seldom international travel, departures on weekends may be necessary.
